About Us
What Makes Country Doodles Special?

Our Quality Dams and Sires

Country Doodles carefully selects female Goldendoodles from other ethical, responsible breeders to ensure there is never any inbreeding. Our F1 Goldendoodle dams are from purebred Golden Retriever and Poodle, AKC or CKC registered parentage, and we have checked the paperwork to ensure we are getting quality dogs from good lines.  In order to breed smaller dogs, we currently have one F1B (13 lb) Goldendoodle dam in our program. Only one young male Miniature or Toy Poodle breeds with each generation of our Country Doodles females, to ensure the continued good health of all our dogs. Every dam and sire at Country Doodles has not only been fully examined by our veterinarians, but has also been DNA tested (through Embark or Paw Print Genetics) to ensure that our puppies will not get any of the eight diseases most commonly occurring in Golden Retrievers and Poodles. Country Doodles’ dogs exhibit the best traits from the Golden Retriever and Poodle breeds.

Ideal Physical Traits

In terms of their physical characteristics, our Goldendoodles all have wavy to curly coats, and all are in varying shades of cream through apricot to red. Our doodles have short ‘teddy bear’ faces. Country Doodles’ puppies are at least three-quarters poodle (F1B or F2B). As a result, they have curly rather than flat coats that dry quickly and do not produce the distinctive 'wet dog' odour of most other breeds.

Although our Goldendoodle puppies are very hypoallergenic and non-shedding, some extremely sensitive people may still experience allergic reactions to them in which case, we would take it back and find it a new home.

Wonderful Dispositions

Due to their Golden Retriever and Poodle heritage, our Goldendoodles are predisposed to be affectionate, intelligent and loyal. They are alert and instinctual but even-tempered, lively but gentle with children. Naturally friendly, our Goldendoodle puppies are socialized, and trained by us through the "Puppy Culture" program to get along well with other animals and strangers.

Our Country Doodles puppies go to their families with all of these inherent qualities, however, it is critically important to continue to provide ongoing training, mental stimulation and physical exercise. Otherwise, like any other breed, Goldendoodles may become hyper and develop anxieties that may lead to aggression.

Our Puppy Nursery Care

Country Doodles’ nursery is a large, quiet private room in our home, with an ensuite bathroom and large windows that provide a view outside, cross- ventilated fresh air and sunny natural light. We provide a comfortable, warm whelping box for our dams to give birth in, and a monitoring system so they never feel cold or alone.

The "Puppy Culture" program protocols begin soon after our puppies are born, and includes research-based Early Neurological Stimulation. Developmentally appropriate toys and exploratory materials are gradually introduced within their playroom and later, in an enclosed outdoor environment.

Mothers stay with their pups for eight full weeks, playing a very important and often overlooked role in helping to socialize them and teach them acceptable canine behaviours.

Children of all ages also handle and play with our puppies regularly so that they learn to feel safe and enjoy being around different people.

Families may view our nursery facilities when they come to choose their puppy.

The "Puppy Culture" Program

and Early Neurological Stimulation

At Country Doodles, we work with our puppies from the time they are born until they go home with their new families. The "Puppy Culture" program and our practice is based on scientific research and the experience of many wise breeders who have gone before. Every day, each puppy is gently held and provided with important sensory experiences that teach their growing brains and bodies to cope with and overcome various kinds of stress. As they grow, our puppies are provided with an increasing variety of materials and activities to explore within a safe, controlled environment. They learn, for example, to find their balance on uneven and textured surfaces, how to climb and go through tunnels, and to respond without fear to different, unexpected sounds and movements. All of these experiences are essential to the early development of well-adjusted dogs.

Optimal Take Home Times

Country Doodles intentionally produces puppies for families to take home at optimal times. Litters of our medium-sized puppies are usually available in July or August, allowing families to choose either a full summer of enjoyment, or a month to take a holiday before bringing their new pet home. A litter of our smallest puppies is usually available later in the year, for families to take home and enjoy through the winter season. For various reasons this does not always work out, so please check our website for updates, or contact us directly to confirm when puppies will be available.
